2-wire vs. 4-wire JTAG FET with MSP430 in MotionFit SDK

By xtal1 , 21 June 2012

Folks,
The MotionFit SDK (MFS) docs recommend a 4-wire-capable JTAG FET, e.g., the TI MSP-FET430UIF, for programming and debugging the MSP430F5528 MCU in the MFS. Problem is, I don't have this FET right now. But I do have several other TI FETs for MSP430 programming, including several(!) of the inexpensive MSP430 LaunchPads. Unfortunately, these units can only do 2-wire Spy-Bi-Wire JTAG.

This shouldn't matter with the MSP430F5528, which is capable of both being programmed and debugged in both modes. Has anyone succeeded in using a 2-wire SBW FET from CCS (e.g., LaunchPad) with the MFS? (Note: this probably involves setting the TEST line on the MSP430F5528 appropriately.)

Mike

PS: If no one answers here, I'll have to dig into the MSP430F5528 data sheet :( and/or order a MSP-FET430UIF.

PPS: Already read a related thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=235&hilit=msp430+fet but it doesn't discuss 2-wire vs. 4-wire.
