ICM-20649 gyro noise

By tomasj , 12 March 2021

Hello,

I am designing board with ICM-20649 to swap discontinued MPU-9250 chip. It look like wiring is almost identical, except all capacitors should be 100nF.
My problem is that gyro is giving me completely random readout - noise. I double checked all capacitors and connection, even replaced chip for new.
But result is same. All 3 axes are giving me very random noise in full scale from the beginning.
On the other hand Accelerometer data are usable, but I think there is a kind of noise too.
It seems that strong movements are changing data marginally, but it is very hard to observe through noise.
For me it look like some capacitor, charge pump is not working well.

I am working with InvenSense sensors from ITG-3200, over MPU-6050 and MPU-9250. But now I am little bit lost.

Maybe my I2C driver is not working properly. But I can't find any setting that is making any change.

Can you tell me what can be wrong?
