MPU-6000 "Intelligence Function Increment"

By marco_benocci , 15 January 2014

In Table 6.2 Accelerometer Specifications (pg. 13 of 52) of the MPU-6000 datasheet (version: https://invensense.tdk.com/mems/gyro/documents/PS-MPU-6000A-00v3.4.pdf) is a parameter called "Intelligence Function Increment". I requested additional information from Invensense regarding this parameter (basically - what is it?) and received the following response:

"This parameter mentioned on page 10 of the product specification controls the scale in which the LSBs in certain interrupt control registers will adhere to. These interrupts are detailed in the register map."

I am having a tough time understanding how a scaling factor could possibly be associated with any of the interrupt registers (control registers or otherwise?) present in the MPU-6000 - it just seems that for instance interrupting when DATA IS READY (as one example) would not requiring any scaling in either controlling or signalling this interrupt function. I'm currently attempting to read about other inertial sensors (from other companies, more general inertial sensor discussion, etc.). Can anyone provide any hints? Thanks all!
