MPU-6000 Signal Resets

I am using the MPU-6000 and need more information than the register spec provides. What do the signal path resets and the SIG_COND_RESET bits do? Do they reset the timer counters used to sample the signals?

In my application, I am sampling another signal at 1kHz and I want to synchronize the samples taken by the MPU-6000 with my sample times. Could I use these signal resets to accomplish this?
