MPU 6000 won't talk to me via SPI

By ben_watts , 4 July 2012

Hello, i'm new here, I'm currently interfacing MSP430F5529 to the MPU6000. I want to use SPI for communication, but the device seems to refuse to comply.

Nothing happens on the SDO line of the device despite trying to read any of the registers. Using an oscilloscope I tested other paths, and CS, SDI and CLK from the MSP are working. The timings, frequencies, and signal levels are okay.

I studied the datasheet, the register map, and tried many example configurations. The SDO line is not shorted to the ground and I can put a logic "1" on it from the MSP without any problems.

I measured the voltages and CPOUT is at 6.2V, so at least the charge pump seems to work. The board didn't experience any static electricity, because other very sensitive circuits are okay.

What can be the problem? Please help, I ran out of ideas.
