MPU9250/MPU6500 LOW POWER ACC WITH FIFO?

When the mpu acc is configured to low power mode, can the acc data still be stored in FIFO or only interrupt based reading? I tried to use FIFO to read the data when in low power acc mode, but the data is constant, not changing. Any idea?
