Temperature output noise / shape explanation for ITG-3200

By alexandra_perrone , 17 September 2011

Hello,

We use ITG-3200's in a number of products. Recently, a customer pointed out that the nature of the temperature sensor output was a little strange. They are trying to use the temperature output for use in calibrating other sensors.

We have plotted the output from the unit as it warms up from room temperature and see what they are referring to. The output, say as temperature slowly increases, shows regions of high noise / dithering at the 16 bit level as it seems to step up in larger increments, with what seems to be almost an RC type time constant. The temperature is correct, and we're not complaining that it is out of spec. But the nature of the sensor output is curious.

Can you elaborate on the output nature of the temperature sensor in the ITG-3200 please? I can supply a plot if necessary.

Thanks!
