Version 2 of Embedded MotionApps src code for other platform

By stephan_friesecke , 7 August 2011

There used to be Embedded MotionApps source code (e.g., v1.1.1 release) for implememation on platforms other than Atmel AVR UC3 platform. We don't use Atmel AVR.

May InvenSense please also provide version 2 of Embedded MotionApps source code for implememation on platforms other than Atmel AVR?

Thanks,

How about the 6050 version? The two links point to the same file name, that only has a build target for the 3050.

...and there is no functional specification for V2 of Embedded Motion Apps.

...and there is no promised 9DOF for Embedded Motion Apps.

This is lame. Am I the only person who thinks that smaller developers are just being strung along with lots of broken promises from InvenSense?

I have MPU-6050 on order forever. No delivery yet despite placing order in February for a 100-unit inital run. Would have done better to use another solution, this one is turning out to be "not a viable solution".

You would have thought that InvenSense would have corrected the link since it was reported in this forum a week ago, it seems. Unfortunately I can't guess a link to download the 6050 version. Guess it just doesn't exist.

Have you tried cdiweb.com for ordering the parts? Perhaps the distributors are more responsive.

Distributor in the UK is just fine, if a little beleaguered by my continued questions about status. They accepted my order, placed the order with InvenSense, and took my money. I have paid for these parts. However, promised delivery of MPU-6000 samples never happened, we have two MPU-6050 parts as samples, one of which we slapped down on a board. We were promised the 100 units for our sample run months ago, so we'd be confident that we could use the part. We designed one board for 6DOF use and placed a 6050 on it. Now we have designed the 9DOF board and are waiting for InvenSense to release the 9DOF software, which they promised to deliver "mid-August". Apparently my company will receive the first batch of MPU-6050s into the UK.

I have been told by the distie that InvenSense are releasing 9DOF Embedded Motion Apps "mid-August" with a compass API. We have a whole range of compasses here that we can choose from, including magnetometers from ST, Hitachi Metals, Freescale, and Honeywell among others. We chose the HMC5883L in the end--this is working perfectly well. The 9DOF board is just waiting for the 9DOF software, the devices, and the Compass API from InvenSense.

Tech Marketing promised EMA 9DOF end of last month:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39

But then Tech Marketing also said it was only 6DOF:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=40

So, quite what is available, I have no idea. I'm kept in the dark. But my money is already taken... Oh well.

Software release v2.0 for non Atmel platforms was made available for web download yesterday.

Does this support the 9-DOF filtering?

It appears that the recent 2.0.0 release does not include the adv/akm directory or any support for the AK8975 magnetometer (compass). This makes 9DOF support impossible. Is there a schedule when this will be released?

Also, do I imply from this that the microcode in the 2.0.0 release which runs the DMP in the 6050 (dmpMantis) does NOT support 9DOF?

Thanks,

This is interesting while the code comes with the atmel software framework (in the case of IMU-3000).

We are not making a general web release for 9dof since we dont have
release rights from AKM yet to redistribute their compass library.

Would it be possible to make a release without AKM compass library so that the developer could add this library from AVR Studio 5.0 / software framework?

I quess that the same library could be used at least with the Inertial 2 board (IMU-3000).
