I did notice that on the UC3 eval daughter board there are traces for both
the AMI306 and the HMC5883L magnetometers, although the board comes populated with the AKM8975.

Take that for what it is worth, that Invensense is at least playing around with these other magnetometers.

Interesting. I actually wasn't aware of the existence of that board until you mentioned it. Very interesting.
