ICS-43434 overheating and dying on new production batch

By egagnonrogerscom , 9 May 2024

Hello:

We just completed a second production batch of our product using the ICS-43434 after a previous successful run. On this batch, the ICS-43434 overheats at power up and dies quickly. Is there a known batch issue? The lot code is 434-VQG6J

The original production batch was inadvertently washed with water and dried with compressed air. This most likely damaged them since the datasheet says not to do this.

The entire batch was reworked to remove and replace the mics. Most of the reworked batch still fail although some worked. I noticed that rarely, the ICS-43434 comes up cool and clocking data but most of the time, on power up, it gets burning hot within seconds and doesn't clock any output data at its output. Power supply voltages are nominal. Input clocks from MCU to MIC are active. Could it be a bad batch or damage in the process of reworking them by removing and manually replacing them? Does anybody have experience with reworking ICS-43434?
